3 Ways to Optimize Your Nutrition

Nutrition is how you obtain food or nourishment necessary for health and growth. Identifying areas of strength and weakness will help you get back to balance and continue to live better. There is no limit to how good you can feel. We have compiled three ways to improve your nutrition.

Add in more vegetables, quality proteins, and fats while reducing processed, sugar-laden foods. Although this may be a simple tip, “simple” does not always mean easy. Focus on making healthier choices whenever possible to keep up the momentum and overall healthy trajectory. You can start by adding greens into your breakfast or removing soda. Every little habit adds up to a healthier you.

#2. Consider Food Sensitivities

Nutrition looks different for each person. When choosing the best kinds of food to eat for you, consider the impact of food sensitivity on your health. In my chiropractic practice, I see a significant number of patients who have gluten sensitivity. In making the connection between headaches, bloating, and fatigue with the root cause of gluten sensitivity, patients could find relief with adopting a new lifestyle.

In one case, I had a patient who had started on a vegetarian diet. She then found out that she had a sensitivity to all kinds of beans which created digestive upset and made getting adequate protein a challenge. By changing her consumption to regeneratively raised meat, she optimized her nutrition to her body type.

Beyond trying to remove a specific food from your diet, getting the right answers through proper testing like the food sensitivities test or GI MAP can help you quickly and efficiently get on the right track.

#3. Supplementation

While a healthy diet can do wonders to make you feel more energized and clear, due to modern agriculture practices, the foods we eat still do not contain enough nutrients for optimal function. Taking a quality multivitamin is a great place to start, but you can take it a step further to customize a solution for your specific body and needs.

Bloodwork, specifically a comprehensive blood panel, will show what nutrients deficiencies may be present. You could be eating all the kale daily, but your body may still need more support from a Vitamin B supplement. Commonly, I see a lot of patients who are deficient in Vitamin D.

Instead of guessing, you can know and have concrete data on what your body is craving. To learn more about the options of testing that are available for you, visit our testing page.
